Sometimes you need to quickly and easily pick a certain range of values in a sea of numbers. Exception Highlighting allows you to do just that.

Using Exception Highlighting in USA Trade Online

To access this feature, you must first select "Exception Highlighting" from your Options list (see Figure A for a list of the options that will appear). The drop-down list at the top of the screen allows you to select which "measure" you want to highlight. This will vary depending on which measures you decided to include in your report, but can include Value, Quantity, and/or Unit Price.

Figure A shows what the Exception Highlighting screen looks like when you select it:

For example, let's say you are interested in exports of television antennas that fall in the $300-$500 range (per unit). To highlight these values, change the Measure pull-down to be "Unit Price". Then click on one of the checkboxes below "Select". This will replace the From and To with "min" and "max". Enter numbers to indicate the range you wish to have highlighted and then select a cell color. Then click OK. Figure B shows how your screen would look before you clicked OK.

Note: We're highlighting unit prices here. You should put in value ranges that are appropriate for the data and measures you are looking at. For example, if you were looking at values, you'd be looking at ranges of 100,000 to 300,000, not 300 to 500.
