You can rearrange the lay-out of your tables to provide the information you want in the right place. For example, the Data Source Selection you specified may default to having countries shown as the rows of your tables. But you may only have one country and several commodities and you want to have commodities in the rows instead. The technique for doing this varies depending on which Internet browser you're using.

Rearranging Rows and Columns Using Internet Explorer:

When you want to rearrange the tables using Microsoft's Internet Explorer, you can use something called "drag and drop". In the upper-left corner of your report, you’ll see header labels in gray boxes which correspond to your Selection Options. For example, in Figure A below, “Commodity,” “Time,” and “Measures” (value) are in the columns, while the “Country” dimension populates the rows. You can manipulate your table by dragging and dropping the different dimensions. This feature is especially useful if you intend to create visual media such as charts and graphs, to highlight your report findings.

To move a header to a different location, left-click the header you want to move and drag it over the header that you want to switch places with, before finally releasing. The header being “replaced” turns yellow indicating you can release your mouse and successfully complete the process. As we see above, the Time and Measures dimensions switch from Figure A to Figure B.

Rearranging Rows and Columns Using Other Internet Browsers

Other Internet browsers don't support dragging and dropping the same way that Internet Explorer does so a different technique is provided to view rearrange the rows and columns. When you view a report using these other browsers, you'll see a pull-down box next to each dimension in the table header. The following screen shows an example using the Mozilla Firefox browser.

To swap one of the dimensions, use the pull-down to select the number of the dimension that you want to swap it with. For example, country (which has the number 1 next to it) is currently the row variable. Perhaps you want to replace it with commodity (which has the number 2 next to it). Use the pull-down next to Commodity and make it the same as country (1) and the screen will refresh with those two dimensions swapped. (You could have also used the pull-down next to Country and chose the number of commodity item.)

In addition, when you're using a non-Internet Explorer browser, you'll see a new "Row dimensions" pull-down list showing up above the "Rows per page" section (see Figure C above). If you change the number from "1" to "2" or higher, you'll see nested rows and the top column variable will become the lowest row variable. For example, changing the table shown in Figure D (above) will result in a table lay-out like the following:
